WonderWorks Destiny USA will be launching a special spring promotion for the CNY region. Starting Monday, March 10th, residents in Onondaga, Cortland, Cayuga, Oswego and Madison counties can purchase general admission tickets for only $10 Monday-Thursday after 4pm.

Steve Madden, the iconic shoe brand, is now open on Destiny USA’s second level. The outlet is located between Game Craze and Jennyfer. The brand is known for the design and marketing of trendsetting shoes and offers other accessories such as watches, jewelry, handbags, belts, sun wear, outerwear and hosiery.
“Destiny USA is now home to the only Steve Madden in Central New York,” Rob Schoeneck, General Manager of Destiny USA stated. “The brand adds to our collection of unique retail stores to the region, while also adding to the outlet component within our expansion.”
Steve Madden embraces fashion while still maintaining a funky independent style that defined the brand 20 years ago.

Rose Hapanowich will lead tourism efforts at Destiny USA
Destiny USA will be represented at more than 40 shows in 2014
Destiny USA announced today new tourism marketing initiatives, including a new branch of their marketing department dedicated to tourism.
Rose Hapanowich, of Destiny USA, will lead the charge as the Director of Travel and Tourism. Hapanowich gained extensive retail background from department store and outlet venues prior to joining Carousel Center (now Destiny USA) as Assistant Marketing Director. She was named Marketing Director in October of 1996 and will now lead the brand’s efforts outside the region as Director of Travel and Tourism.
The regional shopping, dining and entertainment destination is rapidly gaining exposure by actively marketing and collaborating with the Syracuse Convention & Visitors Center, I Love NY, Destinations of New York State, the Shop America Alliance, and more, to national and international markets with the goal of drawing travelers into Syracuse as a new stopover on existing itineraries and a destination in its own right.
“Destiny USA continues to makes strides in international tourism marketing and development and this is a natural next step for the brand,” Rob Schoeneck, General Manager of Destiny USA, stated. “We’re thrilled to have someone with Rose’s background and knowledge in travel and tourism to be representing Destiny USA in the field and attracting guests from around the world.”
Ms. Hapanowich carries a degree in Economics from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. She serves on the Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Executive Committee and the Advisory Board of the Shop America Alliance, in addition to being a member of the I Love NY International Marketing Committee, the Outlet Marketing Alliance, Women in Tourism and Travel International and the National Tour Association Retail and Restaurant Council. She has been featured as a speaker at: Shop the World – Toronto, The 8th Annual Shop America Tourism Conference, and most recently at ONE Travel Conference 2014, held in Bloomington, MN at the Radisson BLU and Mall of America.
Hapanowich has already been hard at work promoting the destination at nearly 30 trade shows across the world in 2013, and has already begun a tour of more than 40 trade shows scheduled for this year – from Toronto to Los Angeles, and Brazil to Berlin. Brand awareness is increasing with each show and in each marketplace as the year progresses, and Destiny USA is becoming a serious player among national attractions.

1st Annual Sleep Walk for Narcolepsy Syracuse to be

CNY Narcolepsy Support Group and Wake Up Narcolepsy, Inc will host its 1st annual Sleep Walk at Destiny USA on March 8 from 2pm-4pm
Syracuse, NY – The 1st annual Sleep Walk for Narcolepsy Syracuse will take place at Destiny USA on Saturday, March 8 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Participants will gather on the 1st level in the Canyon Area to help raise awareness for narcolepsy.
The Sleep Walk for Narcolepsy Syracuse is co-sponsored by CNY Narcolepsy Support Group and Wake Up Narcolepsy, Inc. More information about these foundations can be found at www.wakeupnarcolepsy.org .

Destiny USA will celebrate two years and nearly 50 tenants with LEED certification
Destiny USA will formally celebrate its two year LEED anniversary, achieved on February 6, 2012, this month, showcasing its nearly 50 tenants who have achieved LEED certification. On February 27, 2014 at 1:00pm, several tenants will be honored for their sustainability and recycling efforts.
Destiny USA was formally recognized as the largest LEED Gold certified commercial building in the world on February 6, 2012 when it achieved certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). USGBC President and Syracuse native Rick Fedrizzi presented Destiny USA owner and founder Bob Congel with the prestigious award, stating the project was “a tremendous model for other retail and commercial enterprises for whom sustainable construction and development are operational imperatives.”
“It’s amazing to hit these milestones and continue to see venues throughout the facility go above and beyond in participating in our recycling and composting programs and achieving LEED certification,” Rob Schoeneck, General Manager of Destiny USA stated. “We’re thrilled to present the Green Recycler of the Year award this year to Best Buy, a deserving tenant in our legacy space.”
To date, Destiny USA and its venues have composted more than 800,000 lbs of material. More than two dozen venues participate in the composting program, which launched in July 2012 and is spearheaded by Destiny USA’s Housekeeping Manager, Dee Ingersoll. Ingersoll, who’s worked for the facility for six years, is currently coordinating an Earth Day focused event to showcase the recycling and composting efforts happening everyday on site, while educating the community on how to pursue more sustainable behaviors.

Coach Factory’s new location will be on the first level across from Cheesecake Factory and next to Brooks Brothers Factory Store occupying 8,000 square feet.
Coach is a global leader in premium handbags and accessories. Their current retail boutique will remain open until the expansion of Coach Factory opens, which is estimated to be late Spring 2014.

WonderWorks Destiny USA introduces new Apache Helicopter exhibit
The simulator is available to guests 13 and older
WonderWorks Destiny USA is launching a new exhibit that will take you sky high…in a helicopter simulator. The new Apache helicopter gives guests at WonderWorks a once in a lifetime opportunity to navigate the skies in one of the Army’s most renowned machines.
The Apache helicopter is also known as ‘the flying tank,’ a revolutionary war concept that allowed the United States Army to fly into war zones and survive heavy attack and inflict massive damage. The apache is most well-known for its ability to zero in on specific targets, day or night.
The Apache simulator at WonderWorks Destiny USA allows guests to experience the apache’s capabilities with the fully interactive simulator. Up to 2 people can sit inside of the full size machine and fly through challenges and obstacles.
