Canadian Civic Day Anticipated Draw for Destiny USA, Syracuse

Syracuse, NY- Canadian shoppers are expected at Destiny USA and the Syracuse area today as they celebrate Civic Day, a day of recreation and major holiday for the country. Visitors from the Ottawa/Kingston region are expected to make the trip to the Syracuse area.

Destiny USA’s rebranding weekend concludes with a celebration of Civic Day by offering incentives to Canadians. All visitors with proof of residency will receive a free recycled shopping bag along with a Passport of Savings with exclusive deals and sales.

“Our proximity and accessibility is very appealing to tourists from Canada,” David Holder stated. “When you factor in the new stores, unique brands and the recently heightened duty free limits, shopping is the number one reason why Canadians are making the drive. There’s a lot of potential to continue this growth and increase the 12-15% in sales that Destiny USA already sees from Canada each year.”

Many area hotels are involved with the increased Canadian traffic. Destiny USA offers shop & stay packages in partnership with the hotels and several offered negotiated room rates over the rebranding weekend in celebration of the event.

In a May 2012 license plate survey, nearly 17% of license plates were from Canada. As Destiny USA continues to open new brands, visitation is expected to increase.

Destiny USA currently offers currency exchange services at Guest Services and additional incentives to group tours from Canada.
